VBS 125
This mild citric acid cleaner is also referred to as a citric acid burnisher. It is used in steel media to clean and brighten nonferrous metals and stainless steel alloys. Carbon steel alloys can be cleaned and brightened using VBS 125 if parts are dried afterward; the product is also ideal for light descaling and light derusting of carbon steel.
When used with steel media, rust inhibiting the media overnight and over weekends is recommended.
VBS 125 can also be used in plastic, synthetic and ceramic media processes. It is typically diluted 1-4% with water, and water is controlled between 1-2 gal. per hr. per cu. ft. of machine space.
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES
- pH: 4-5
- Specific gravity: 1.06
- Color: light amber
- Mild odor
- Controlled foaming
- 100% water soluble
- Works in hard water
- Easily rinsed
- Non-flammable
- Media: plastic, synthetic, ceramic & steel
- Metals: nonferrous, stainless steels, carbon steels
VBS 160
This mild alkaline cleaner was engineered to clean nonferrous metals and stainless steel alloys in deburring processes following stamping, machining, laser cutting and water jet operations. It is compatible with plastic, synthetic, ceramic and steel media.
When used with steel media, rust inhibiting the media overnight and over weekends is recommended. When processing carbon steel alloys, a rust inhibiting step is required afterward. VBS 160 is typically diluted 1-5% with water, and water is controlled between 1-2 gal. per hr. per cu. ft. of machine space.
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES
- pH: 9-10
- Specific gravity: 1.02
- Color: light amber
- Mild odor
- Moderate foaming
- 100% water soluble
- Works in hard water
- Easily rinsed
- Non-flammable
- Media: plastic, synthetic, ceramic & steel
- Metals: nonferrous, stainless steels
(carbon steels if rust inhibited afterward)
VBS 186
This mild alkaline cleaner is formulated with rust inhibitors. It is most commonly used to clean carbon steel and stainless steel alloys in deburring processes after stamping, machining, laser cutting and water jet operations.
It can be used in plastic, synthetic, ceramic or steel media. In addition to deburring processes, VBS 186 can be used as a rust inhibitor in an immersion tank, and as a rust inhibitor for steel media. The period of rust protection varies depending on the process, climate and how parts are packaged; typically, 2 weeks or longer is expected.
In deburring processes, VBS 186 is typically diluted 1-5% with water, and water is controlled between 1-2 gal./hr. per cu. ft. of machine space. In immersion tanks, concentration is normally maintained between 10-25%. When inhibiting steel media, 3-6 oz. of VBS 186 concentrate is added per cu. ft. of media.
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES
- pH: 10-11
- Specific gravity: 1.056
- Color: red
- Non-specific odor
- Moderate foaming
- 100% water soluble
- Works in hard water
- Easily rinsed
- Non-flammable
- Media:: plastic, synthetic, ceramic & steel
- Metals: stainless steels, carbon steels
& most aluminum alloys
VBS 188
This popular caustic cleaner contains rust inhibitors. It cleans carbon steel and stainless steel alloys in deburring processes following stamping, blanking and forming operations where heavy lubricants are used.
Plastic, synthetic, ceramic and steel media are all compatible. The period of rust protection varies depending on the process, climate and how parts are packaged, but typically, 2 weeks or longer can be expected. VBS 188 is typically diluted 1-5% with water, and water is controlled between 1-2 gal./hr. per cu. ft. of machine space.
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES
- pH: 12.1 - 13.1
- Specific gravity: 1.064
- Color: red
- Odor: mild
- Moderate foaming
- 100% water soluble
- Works in hard water
- Easily rinsed
- Non-flammable
- Media:: plastic, synthetic, ceramic & steel
- Metals: stainless steels & carbon steels
VBS 1200T
This caustic powder cleaner is formulated with rust inhibitors. It is most commonly used in deburring processes to boost cleaning performance and removal of heavy lubricants from stainless steel and carbon steel alloys. It is not recommended for nonferrous metals.
It can be used in plastic, synthetic, ceramic or steel media. VBS 1200T is highly recommended for applications where light duty cleaning is the norm, and heavy duty cleaning is the occasional need. It is an excellent alternative to:
- using a caustic cleaner all of the time when heavy duty cleaning is not always necessary, or
- changing cleaners depending on the lubricants to be removed.
VBS 1200T is distributed evenly over the mass (media and parts), usually at the beginning of the cycle only. The amount added varies widely depending on the process and user’s needs.
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES
- pH (6.5 oz. per gallon): 12-13
- Color: white to off-white powder
- Odorless
- Minimal foaming
- Soluble in water
- Works in hard water
- Non-flammable
- Media:: plastic, synthetic, ceramic & steel
- Metals: stainless steels & carbon steels
